Active Release Techniques (ART)

Active Release Techniques (ART) is a collection of soft tissue techniques for examination, diagnosis and treatment of soft tissue disorders. ART is a non-invasive healing procedure that locates and breaks down scar tissue and adhesions that cause soft tissue injuries.

ART targets very specific problems and heals through a unique combination of pressure, tension and motion. This method releases, stretches and loosens connective tissue adhesions or scar tissue, allowing the restoration of circulation, flexibility and strength.

Through the assessment of tissue texture, tension, movement and function, ART provides a way to diagnosis and treats the underlying causes of a variety of conditions.  ART has proven itself to be an effective way to heal a wide range of soft tissue injuries and movement based muscular problems allowing people to get going again without pain.

As a dedicated athlete, stretching may take a back seat to the rest of your exercise routine. But the benefits of stretching far outweigh the time it takes to do the stretches. By improving flexibility of your muscles, stretching can help to prevent injuries caused by tightened muscles and also increases the blood flow to your muscles. At Movadria, we use both both active and passive stretching, isolating specific muscles for the best results.

Because your brain and nervous system are engaged in every movement, there is neuromuscular re-education occurring as the repetitions are done. Every time a new range of motion is achieved, new neural pathways are produced. For athletes, Power= Strength + Flexibility + Time. A muscle cannot be trained to its end range if maximum range of motion is not achieved. By using repetitions, great amounts of lymph are moved through your body. This is of great benefit in wound and injury healing, as well as detoxification of your body. Additionally, the benefits of AIS can result in an enhanced immune system, as well as improved feeling of well-being because of increased flexibility.

Additional Services

NormaTec Recovery Boots

The NormaTec Recovery Boots are air pressure compression units intended to relieve minor muscle aches and pains, and to increase circulation in the legs. NormaTec improves blood flow by pushing blood from your feet to your thigh. This increases the blood flow to damaged muscles and speeds up recovery.

Marc Pro™ Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS)

The Marc Pro creates strong, but non-fatiguing muscle contractions that normalize the tissue through the movement of nourishment and waste .

Ultrasound Therapy

Ultrasound therapy uses sound waves to penetrate soft tissues. The sound waves cause minuscule vibrations in the deep tissue molecules which encourages healing in the soft tissue.

Cold laser therapy is the use of low level lasers to stimulate damaged tissues, which enhances the healing process, providing pain relief and lowering inflammation.
